The Third Phase of the United Nations Voluntary Service Cooperation Project Evaluation Meeting Was Held
On August 23, 2016, the third phase of the United Nations voluntary service cooperation project evaluation meeting was held at the United Nations embassy. The leaders of United Nations Volunteer Organization of the Asia-Pacific region, and United Nations Volunteer Organization of the China office, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Office in China, China International Center For Economic And Technical Exchanges (CICETE), Beijing Volunteer Service Federation (BVF), and Beijing municipal committee of the Communist Youth League attend the meeting. China Volunteer Service Federation (CVF), China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation attended the meeting as a special guest.
The theme of the third phase United Nations volunteer service project is Strengthening China’s Involvement in the Development of International Volunteer Service through the Belt and Road Initiative. It is aimed at enhancing China’s participation in international volunteer service by focusing on China's "The Belt and Road" development strategy and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through strengthening China's participation in the international volunteer service, by youth volunteers telling Chinese story and people-to people communication, the soft power of China can be enhanced.
On the meeting, the participating parties made a comprehensive, in-depth and fruitful communication around the details of signing the third phase cooperation projects and promoting further cooperation.Mr. Xinbao Guo spoke highly of the achievements made by the former two phase cooperation with the United Nations， and also extended heartfelt thanks to the United Nations volunteers who made great efforts to promote the development of voluntary service in Beijing by UNDP China and CICETE. All parties showed confidence in the third phase of cooperation and claimed working together to bring China voluntary service to the whole world, deepening extensive cooperation with the international regional organizations, and promoting international friendship and world peace.
