Discussion with the “Bridge to the Future” - Latin American Youth Leaders Delegation
On 13th July, the delegation of "Bridge to the Future” – 45 youth leaders from Latin American countries visited Beijing Volunteer Service Federation (BVF). The staffs of International Affairs Department of BVF played two volunteer service propaganda videos and demonstrated the volunteer service cultural gallery for the delegation so that they learned the general state and historic development of Beijing volunteering.
Then, the delegation and BVF had an energetic discussion to exchange ideas. During the meeting, Mr. Chen Bingju, the Deputy Secretary-General sincerely extended the BVF warmly welcome. Then, the youth leaders from Latin America showed keen interests in Beijing volunteer service including the volunteering incentive mechanism, insurance and benefits, policies and regulations, project management, and voluntary service time. They also put forward the related questions that Mr. Chen answered one by one. In addition, Mr. Chen on behalf of BVF invited the delegates to participate in the formulation of International Volunteering Alliance of the Belt and Road Initiative.
It is reported that the "Bridge to the Future" was an initiative launched by President Xi Jinping in 2015, which is known as a large scale and high level programme for youth exchange. The camp of "Bridge to the Future" training for youth leader between China and Latin America is an important component of the whole programme. The camp is planned to invite about 100 Latin American youth elites per year to China from 2015 to 2024, who will be with Chinese youth leaders together to participate in research and training.
