Researching Mission to BVF, by Mr. WANG Zhen, Chief of Asia and Pacific Regional Division of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization)
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO) Asia-Pacific Director Wang Zhen and his entourage came to visit Beijing Volunteer Service Federation (BVF) on 26th, July. The delegation visited the cultural gallery of volunteerism under the guidance of the staff of BVF. Subsequently, Wang Zhen and his entourage held a meeting along with BVF. Within the meeting, Deputy Secretary General Chen Guang gave a warm welcome to the delegates on behalf of BVF. He hopes that volunteers can play a more important role in the future. Wang Zhen said that BVF’s work made gratifying achievements when it comes to scale and system. BVF is welcomed to send more talented volunteers to the United Nations system in the future. The two sides had a deep discussion on future cooperation in terms of personnel training and deployment of volunteers to the United Nations.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a specialized agency of the United Nations General Assembly, was established in 1966 to promote economic development and industrialization in developing countries and countries with economies in transition through technical assistance and industrial cooperation. The main activities are to help the developing countries and countries with economies in transition to improve their economic competitiveness, to improve the environment and increase their productive employment at the three levels of policy, institutions and enterprises.
In June 2016, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) set up a "green industry platform". The Chinese office secretariat of the green industry platform is located in the Beijing Normal University Economic and Resource Management Research Institute. BVF, its partner, is responsible for promotion of China's green industry development work through volunteerism.
