BVF Blue Cube Service Program

　　Background

　　The Blue Cubes, i.e. the urban volunteer stations for the 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympics Games, play a key role in urban volunteers’ service provision during the Games. After the Games, the Blue Cubes have never stopped working. More than 1 million volunteers have served at these stations for almost 100 million hours to assist the government in facilitating people’s life and maintaining a good government image. Later on, such Blue Cube stations will be installed in scenic spots, business areas, museums, traffic pivots and venues for large-scale events and conferences to provide urban voluntary services, create a more open and larger platform for people’s participation in volunteering and a brand name for urban voluntary service.

　　Duration

　　The Blue Cubes will be installed in the venues for important occasions like New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, China Youth Volunteers’ Day, International Labor’s Day, National Day, International Volunteers’ Day and significant games and meetings as necessary.

　　Implementation Model

　　Volunteer teams will be organized based on the actual needs of the Blue Cubes to provide services tailored to the different occasions.

　　Content

　　(1)Information Service - public information service for citizens and tourists on public transportation, dining and accommodation, sightseeing and directive signs in high traffic public places, etc.

　　(2)Convenience Service - services to ease people’s travelling and life, including free directions, tire pumping, stitch up, escort service, etc.

　　(3)Emergency Service - the Blue Cube service stations will be connected with the appropriate emergency offices and be responsible for reporting emergencies and assisting with emergency handling, including simple medical aid as possible.

　　(4)Special Service - area-specific services, including folk cultural events, art exhibitions, sports events, scenic spots recommendation, etc. Practitioners and experts in the relevant fields will be encouraged to participate in leading the young volunteers.
