SOWER International Volunteer Alliance
Sower International Volunteer Alliance
Launched in 2017 by five young students from China and Africa, Sower International Volunteering Alliance was officially registered at Beijing Volunteer Service Federation (BVF). It advocates that young people should devote to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the goals of Good Health and Well-being as well as Quality Education. The term “Sower” indicates that young people should act as "planters" and sow seeds of love and hope to the world. As a pioneer, the main activity area of Sower is focused on helping African children get healthy vaccines, through community fund-raising, charity bazaar, equipment donations (ARKETK bucket), etc. There are also two youths from Zimbabwe engaged in Sower, who conduct cultural exchange activities with local youth in Beijing. As an international alliance, Sower has wide partnerships with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aucma China, China-Africa Business Council and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
The “bucket of life – ARKETK” is developed jointly by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Aucma co., Ltd. in Qingdao, China. ARKTEK is used for the storage and transportation of vaccines in the absence of electricity. It is the only long-lasting passive vaccine storage device recognized by World Health Organization (WHO) and is capable of storing the vaccine safely for more than 35 days under extreme conditions. In 2015 and 2017, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and WHO used ARKTEK equipment as the only viable solution to transport the Ebola vaccine, effectively suppressing the Ebola disease and gaining the praise of industry experts. Sower International Volunteering Alliance has also on-going project with hospitals in Ethiopia to donate the three ARKTEKs, which could deliver 10-year safe and effective vaccination for local children in three communities of 6000 members. Please find the following specifications of ARKTEK. The following link http://www.arktek.org/download.html could also show you how the ARKTEK works.
